Overpopulation in the 1900s :: essays research papers
Some people believe that immigration in the 1900ââ¬â¢s was a good thing, however, they would be wrong. The United States government should have restricted the immigrants around that time. Some reasons are the population, the taking of new jobs and lowering wages, and diseases spreading quickly. These all factored importantly into why they should not have been allowed in. The population in the 1900ââ¬â¢s was beginning to overflow. In 1875 the United States government had to put a immigration restriction so that no more immigrants could come into the United States. Which ended up leading into the depression. Then later in 1882 the United States government had to put a restriction on all Chinese immigrants because there were too many of them coming over. So as a result you can tell that too many immigrants were coming over into the United States. Another big factor in why the immigrants should have been restricted in the 1900ââ¬â¢s is because they would take most of the needed jobs in all of the warehouses. The main reason that they would get all of the jobs in the warehouses is because they would come in large amounts and they were willing to work for very little pay. The places that they lived were usually shacks or a 2 or three room apartment so they wouldnââ¬â¢t have many costs to take care of. This also would lead allot of Americans getting angry because it would become harder and harder to find work. Due to the very poor living conditions that all of the immigrants would live in diseases would spread very quickly. Another reason that diseases would spread is because so many different people from different countryââ¬â¢s would take very long journeys on a boat where it is tremendously overcrowded. Whenever immigrants would come over they would have to see a doctor.

Anecdote: the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Essay
ââ¬Å"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Timeâ⬠essay was the only thing I was concerned with that night. Finishing it, handing it in, and voila, Iââ¬â¢m done. But for me, it was always more complicated than that. Procrastination is practically my middle name. After what seemed like an eternity of blankly staring at the computer screen, the phone rang. All of my limbs felt unnaturally stiff as I went to retrieve the phone. ââ¬Å"Hello?â⬠I said. ââ¬Å"Hi, itââ¬â¢s Sarah.â⬠My best friend, Sarah, who was usually loud, hysterical, and had an exciting voice, now spoke in a distant mumble, as if it wasnââ¬â¢t really her. ââ¬Å"Dude, I donââ¬â¢t have time to talk I have to finish thisâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ I said. ââ¬Å"Pedro Gurrola is deadâ⬠she said as if she herself were dead, too. ââ¬Å"Huh?â⬠I was sure I hadnââ¬â¢t heard correctly. ââ¬Å"Alexââ¬â¢s dad? Pedro Gurrola? He was killed this morning in his garage,â⬠she explained. ââ¬Å"Jeez, that sucks.â⬠I said, trying to focus on my paper. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢d says it more than sucks. Anyway, all of the youth group is meeting at the church to comfort Alex. Iââ¬â¢m really worried about her.â⬠It took me a minute to realize she was suggesting I join too. Still subconsciously stressing about my paper, I excused myself. ââ¬Å"Ahâ⬠¦I would go but I really have to finish this paper. Iââ¬â¢m not even half way done. ââ¬Å" ââ¬Å"Are you serious right now?â⬠She sounded sarcastic as usual, but I took it the wrong way. ââ¬Å"I know right!â⬠ââ¬Å"No, not that you idiot. Just come to the church.â⬠She sounded frustrated, so I gave in. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢ll ask my mom.â⬠ââ¬Å"Okay, you better be there.â⬠As I walked into the living room, the too familiar sound of my parentââ¬â¢s favorite show, Jeopardy, filled my ears. I looked at my parents, whose eyes were glued to the screen. ââ¬Å"Hey Mom, can I go to the church?â⬠She didnââ¬â¢t take her eyes off the screen. ââ¬Å"What for?â⬠ââ¬Å"Pedro Gurrola is dead-ââ¬Å" ââ¬Å"30 seconds, contestants. Good luck!â⬠interrupted Alex Trebek on the TV. ââ¬Å"Pedro Gurrola, Alexââ¬â¢s dad, is dead.â⬠I repeated. After I said it, it felt like I was hearing it for the first time as well. My parents glared at me like I was as entertaining as the TV show. Before they even had a chance to respond, I started for the front door. I knew what I had to do.

Many praise him for his role in bringing about popular democracy and individual rights; however, Jacksonââ¬â¢s role in the Indian Removal Act, his extreme racism, and his support for slavery cause many to question his legacy. Jacksonââ¬â¢s involvement in the Seminole Wars is particularly disturbing since he not only authorized but actively encouraged the use of force against the women and children of the Seminole tribe. While Jackson was by no means the first leader to target civilian populations as a means to winning wars, the Seminole Wars are a particularly brutal example of this approach. This act of aggression marked the start of the S eminole Wars. Jackson marched from Nashville to Fort Scott on a path of destruction with 500 soldiers, 1000 militiamen and 1800 Creek warriors. General Jacksonââ¬â¢s forces first destroyed completely the Seminole village of Miccosukee, burning 300 houses and taking all of their cattle and corn. Company Complexity According to Ge and McVay research study findings, business complexity is positively correlated with firm disclosure of material weaknesses. They hypothesized that the ââ¬Å"firms with more complicated transactions likely to have greater chance for a disconnect in the financial reporting process, and thus a material weakness (Ge et al., 148).â⬠To measure business complexity, Ge and McVay used the number of operating segments reported in the annual 10-K and the existence of foreign currency exchange translation. Ge and McVay had two subgroups within their study: firms that disclosed material weaknesses and a control group of 2003 Compustat firms who did not report any material weaknesses. The findings of Doyle et al. were as predicted. The three complexity measures were higher in firms that reported material weaknesses in comparison to the 2003 Compustat firms, who did not report any material weaknesses. This indicates that company complexity is positively correlated to the disclosure of material misstatements. Company Profitability In relation to the Ge and McVay research study findings, company profitability is negatively correlated with firm disclosure of material weaknesses. Ge and McVay hypothesized that ââ¬Å"poorly performing firms simply might not be able to adequately invest in proper internal controls (Ge et al., 151).â⬠This would result in a greater chance of disclosing material weaknesses. We sat down in group and took up this project because we could divide work to each and every member in this project. I came up with the idea of using RF Transmitter and receiver so that in case of intruder detection, we can alarm the security person at some other place. I also spent considerable time on studying about the Slot Sensors which we have used to validate the entry of an authentic person. For this purpose I thought of making a card swapping system using LED and photoresistors so that when a person comes with a valid card the buzzer should not beep. All the group members, suggested ways of integrating the buzzer and the sensor interface to ensure desired functionality. Soldering seemed to be tough task for us. In our first attempt we used Voltage Regulator IC-7805 , Phototransistor L14F1, Opamp IC-LM356, Timer IC-555, Transistor ââ¬â BC548. Then we searched for various others circuits, finally while watching some videos on Laser Alarms We found out a circuit . In our second attempt we connected this circuit and it worked. The components we used in this circuit are ââ¬â Counter ââ¬â 4017, instead of Phototransistor in the previous circuits we used a LDR( light dependant Resistor) , Opamp IC-741. After we finished the basic Laser Circuit we came up with this idea of using an RF Transmitter and Reciever , so that we detect the alarm at the place we want. In our project Arduino provides an interface between the slot sensors and the alarm system. So the micro-controller needs to be coded. The micro-controller takes the input from the slot sensors and then decides whether to enable the alarm system or not. Hence the operating voltages margins of the micro-controller needs to be determined manually. After this was done we used these margins in making the micro-controller work accordingly. Having seen a lot of coding samples on the INTERNET , I came up with a code which serves the purpose of the project . The code then was debugged in certain places and further processed and fine tuned to fit perfectly and decrease various delays that we have encountered in the course of making the alarm system. I also soldered the various components of the RF receiver and the slot sensor onto the perforated circuit board and debugged the circuit to make it work.
